Hops before internet gateway

APRS™ database and information

[Small Map]

These maps show by position the number of hops required before a packet reached the internet. It was generated on 21-Jan-2003 from 459,000 datapoints overs the last few months.

From the map you can graphically determine how many hops are required to reach an internet gateway. In California you can see that for the majority of cases it only takes 1 hop before being I-Gated.

The PDF document is the best way to view the map. You can zoom in a specific area of interest (generally up to 1600% zoom is possible) and see beter detail. If there is interest I will put together and online GIS system for viewing these maps and possibly even generated maps for an user's geographical area of interest.
